  • My Very First 2012

Hate the fact of how I have been writing how busy I was every time when I'm back to xanga. Well, honestly speaking, I'm still very busy, probably this most busy period in my entire poly life. Time really flies, I'll be going to AMECO Beijing for my 6-week internship next month. Nevertheless, I still got some time for my own entertainment. AND, Valentines Day is coming! Still thinking... Thinking to put everything together and give as one. Hmm.

Ever since the start of the year I've been thinking of what my future holds, maybe I've grown a little more mature haha. Being a 18-year old, it can sometimes get a little confusing of what you actually want and what you'll eventually get in future. Perhaps I'm starting to see the light in the long run, but well, think less, concentrate of what I am now and work hard to achieve it. Sometimes I just feel that Engineering is not my line but some practical sessions still ignited my flame of passion for aircraft maintenance. Overall, I just like the way how plane works, and frankly speaking, I prefer to operate this huge metal bird rather than maintaining it, though working in an airport hangar has always been my dream. Hais, think less, do what I'm supposed to do now. Career.

I admit that I'm still a very immature boy, definitely still not a man yet. Little exposures, insecure, flirt, no everything or anything, and I'm still dreaming in my world of fantasy sometimes. Going to gym can only build my physical attributes, but not my mind. Can get a little too upset sometimes over little things, but I really expect nothing in return, I'm still a legless bird in reality. We still need time, and who I am to judge you, to what you say or do. A young boy still growing up. A tough nut to crack, love.

Family is the only thing that I should treasure more in 2012, since I'm going to NS soon next year. Can feel the disappointment of my father when I told him that I'm not going out with him in the weekend because I'm too busy with my work. Also, I sometimes cannot deny that I prefer HK more than SG. HK is still where I belong and the feeling for the piece of land is something that I can't explain. Perhaps all my family members are all there for me, especially this cute little cousin haha. My moral support.

Hmm, seriously feeling a little weird talking about some sentimental personal thoughts after 2012 has set in. Well, I'm still me myself, songs can still be found within my radial distance hehe. Dramas are still one of my favourite entertainment, though I've lesser time for it now. Sports is still something that I'm involved with every week, at least once a week, be it hitting the gym or afternoon jogging. Looking back to 2011, the most awesome group of people that I've met is still DJY 2. It feels like I've known them for very long although I don't even know who they are in this period of time last year. Everything changes in a year. Let's see what 2012 has.

  • New Phase- Next 50% Of Poly Life!

I can't believe that school has actually started and I'm right now in my 2B phase! Omg, time really flies. Honestly speaking, I'm still feeling quite attached to my OCIP team and we also met up a few times every week ever since we came back from China, and that's a good thing! Let's talk about my current school life now before proceeding to my review on OCIP!

Let me see... Mondays at 10am, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1pm while Wednesdays and Fridays 8am... A pretty good timetable yeah?! That's because I'm not required to take TWT this semester and I've already done my EM IIB, so it'll be a pretty relaxing semester before all the work sets in! I kinda like AEIS as for now, partly because of my two lecturers haha! The lecturer at LT 18A is sooo sarcastic but I enjoy his teaching since I'm always pretty awake. As for our practical teacher, he's so cool! At first, when he stepped into the lab, I was thinking,' Oh gosh, this teacher must have a fiery temper and must be a tough nut to crack.' However, on our first practical session today, he introduced aircraft electrical consumption in such an interesting way by linking it to our handphone's Li-Ion battery. Moreover, he kinda 'electrocuted' all of us by telling us to hold our hands and form a circle together with him applying a 250V electricity from his supply. THAT WAS FREAKING AWESOME! =D I don't feel to write about other modules yet, but if you wanna know more, I would really say that aircraft maintenance jobs are really stressful!

    Okay, OCIP! XD

    First week:

Wasn't really feeling well with a slight flu on our day of departure. However, I still have the mood as I knew that at that moment when my parents dropped me at the check-in row, that's the start of my freedom for the next 14 days! XD In addition, I've always been flying with my family, so this is my very first time at the age of 18, I'm travelling with my 15 other friends! So the flight on that A340 wasn't a smooth one, or probably the worse flight that I ever had with Cathay Pacific. We experienced turbulence literally throughout the whole flight, and the shake got worse upon descending to Hong Kong. At that time, I could still remember Lydia was grabbing my wrist really really hard lol! But I guessed that was mostly due to the awful weather. Anyway, we still managed to land safely at Chengdu after the transit at HKIA. We spent our night at Sim's Cosy Hostel, a relatively cheap accommodation I suppose, but I'm totally fine with all the stuffs that they had. We went to epicentre of the Sichuan earthquake on the next day and I kinda had a mixed feeling. Good in a way that the place can be used to remind visitors to cherish their loved ones, but bad in a sense that it's not that appropriate to convert it to a tourists attraction especially when so many people had perished over there 3 years ago... Nevertheless, we still managed to have our very first authentic Sichuan cuisine at the New Beichuan Hotel. All I can say is that the highlight of the meal is rabbit meat hahaha! The hotel on the second night was better, but I don't really like the food over at the small restaurant opposite to it. I can still remember this little slice of green chilli made my whole face red and I had to drink 4 or 5 cups of tea continuously! I swear I'll always remember what we did on the 3rd day! Apart from our really impromptu teaching, the home-visit was certainly a huge highlight of the trip. David somewhat tricked us and we'd to walk through really deep and muddy soil which you can't even take out your feet upon stepping on it. Furthermore, I was carrying a bag of rice and the soil was really slippery which made us fell. By the time we finished the home-visit, our shoes were all close to trash. However, I feel that it's really a great experience that you wouldn't have the chance to experience in Singapore. On the same day, we also arrived to our YMCA hostel at Dujiangyan and I was pretty surprised by their facilities and accommodation as I didn't expect it to be that nice.

My group was the first team being assigned to do the cooking and thus, we're staying at the hostel on that day. The cooking in the afternoon was totally a fail for me as I didn't expect them to come back to the hostel that early! BUT the dinner was much much better! =D On the same night, someone told me that Steph fell sick and I was quite guilty about it because of some reasons... And that's why I went up and keep checking on her making sure that she's okay for the next few days... I started our OCIP 'routine' on the 4th day. So this is how our routine goes, we'll visit the elderly home in the morning and accompany them by singing songs, chit-chatting or playing games. In the afternoon, we'll visit a handicapped centre and learn some handicraft skills from them, and at the same time, teaching them our local handicrafts. But that only lasted for two days, and for the next few days in the afternoon, we went to home visits again, but this time round, it's at Dujiangyan. We went to the same house for 2 days and we actually FARMED on the first day! We had to dig trenches for the 'irrigation system' of the whole plantation and I realised that it's really a tough job. Throughout the 1.5 hours of farming, I was so hot and perspiring so much that I've to take off my shirt even though the temperature was around 20 deg.

    Second Week:

Nothing new on the second week... The only difference was that we went to a primary school to teach in the afternoon, our morning activity remained the same. Yinxiu Primary was the highlight and one of our major 'pillars' of our trip, because David wanted it to be a consistent and continuous effort not just by us, but also by team 3 and the subsequent teams. Therefore, our task of inculcating good moral values to the kids must really be effective so that they'll allow SP to carry out community services over there again. We had 4 afternoons with them altogether and we really planned a lot beforehand for all our activities. Even though all of us slept very little, but we all worked very hard in teaching because we think that failing is not an option. I would say that my group did pretty fine for the P3s and P4s except for the second day where we didn't have enough enough planning. As for the carnival on the 4th afternoon, I think it was a huge success as all of them were happily enjoying themselves and I'm also very happy that my kids can still remember my name! So touched! They're all so cute hahaha! And that carnival marked the end of our community service, so what's next?! FREE AND EASY AT CHENGDU OMG! Actually before the last 2 days, we already had R&R at night around Dujiangyan and it was REALLY REALLY AWESOME on one particular night! XD XD Anyway, the R&R at Chengdu was still quite fun, but nothing much for me to buy again haha.

I now it's kind of an abrupt ending, but I've to sleep early for my CATIA at 8am tmr! Okay, bye!

  • OCIP Operation DJY Day 7

Holy shit!~ I almost forgot that I still have my Xanga account excluding all the socal media sites that China has blocked. 7 days without Facebook and Twitter haha! Well, I'm still surviving well here hahaha! Anyway, I'll be back at night after my meeting later for the YinXiu Primary activities and my dinner. I shall bloggggg about the fun that I had. Really don't feel like leaving this wonderful place to break myself from the outside world. Cya later man, bye!

  • What I Just Realised...

I realised that I haven't been posting on Xanga for 2 months haha! Time reaLLY REALLY flies! The calendar for this semester is so screwed up! I'll only be having my exams AFTER the 3-week break. It's almost into the third week of the holiday, and I'm like going back to school almost everyday this week for MAE Challenge preparation and rehearsal, and my OCIP trip meeting. Till Thursday afternoon during the meeting then I realised that we've got soooooooo many things to do! We've to raise funds for the kids (for their gloves and scarves) by organising a Funfair in SP? On top of that, we also have to organise some activites for the kids over there to enrich their learning experiences. IN ADDITION, we'll yet be holding another Funfair/Carnival for the the villagers/people over there in Sichuan. Despite of the things that I've to do, I'm actually pretty looking forward to the trip itself as I love to travel, and at the same time, I'd really like to experience and see for myself what kind of lifestyles are the people over there having. ( Oh ya, I'll be spending my 18th birthday over there too XD) Furthermore, we are going to do things and cook ourselves, thus, we must be independent and provide mutual support. Oops, I forgot to include an important piece of information; I've only got 16 other team members. Oh yes, before I forget to mention, we've to do a pre and post CIP trip in Singapore for the OCIP trip. Seems like there're more and more stuffs, but it's always fun to have a new experience and more importantly, we can learn to work with friends from other faculties. There'll also be bonding activities for the team too! ( I'm most looking forward to that! 9th July! XD)

CMCC! I really enjoyed myself in this 2D1N camp. ( not as enjoyable as Telunas, too short!) Met a new group of people, who listen to the same genre/kind of music as me i.e. country and pop haha! Since this is more of a music CCA, what we did during the camp was just singing! Anyone can just start singing a song and the rest will just follow, how awesome is this! And we even had a chalet at ECP! And basically, I doubt anyone slept, except for the most enthu guy from my group who always wanted la ji ( tongue kissing) LOL~ And we just chatted in the chalet for the whole night! It was like 'oh shit it's already 5am, I thought it was only 1am. This girl (I forgot her name), from the next door came into our room. Her other group mates told us that she can sing very well. When she sang, we were all like STUNNED! ( I could still rmb when Aston and I look at each other, our epic face haha!) Then subsequently after that night, I didn't ask for her name, and just call her Olivia Ong LOL! Oh yes, we also performed a truly awesome skit at the Moberly Theatre! Damn funny and fun camp! XD

It seems lke time really flies when you're in Year 2, I really can't imagine how fast will time pass when we're doing our FYP. Like two semesters ago, I've got 6 modules for my MST for this semester! Mostly on calculations, and the other two are explanatory. Just pray hard that I'll remember the formulas, as not all of them are given on the formula sheet! ( Unlike Year 1..) First paper will start on 27th, while last two will end on 1st July! And I'll be meeting the Hermit Cheeeezzzzeee Gunzzz after that! ( Hopefully all can make it for dinner!) XD So looking forward to that day because we can finally crap again after 2 months! And another event coming up on last few weeks of July- Project CAN. Really hope that I can manage my time well during this period of time! This means that I've to compromise my gaming time!

  • ♥ Hermit Cheese Gunz- LeaP SPOT Camp 2011

I was somewhat a little bit reluctant to attend this camp at first as I was still feeling a little tired after the 6D5N FO Camp at St John’s Island. But later then I realized that the camp was getting fun and more interesting as the days went by. Haha, so below is the itinerary for my camp!

    Day 1
I woke up at 6am in the morning and quickly had my breakfast before heading down to Serangoon MRT station as I was supposed to meet Xinyi and Dexter there at 6.45am! They were all punctual and it’s very easy to see them in the platform, since they’re at the last few carriages. However, Xinyi and I had to go first unfortunately as time was really against us while we’re waiting for Yahui. Luckily all 4 of us managed to reach the jetty on time and catch the ferry to Sekupang. On the way to Sekupang, I was repeatedly bombarded by the examples of Fuzzy Wuzzy game. I was constantly figuring the alphabetical order of the letters in the ferry but I still couldn’t get the game. Well, I thought that what I need then was more time. So when we reached Sekupang, there were many different ferry operators and everyone was like so desperate and wanted you to buy a ticket from them. This reminded me of Shenzhen, the conditions were the same, and it’s just that there were many different taxi drivers which I thought they were con men LOL! We then walked for 5 mins to another small jetty to take a ‘motorized sampan’ to Telunas beach. That ride was close to 2 hours and since everyone was asleep, I started to take some ‘nice shots’ from them haha! I was really startled when we reached our campsite, because the people there were so nice! They gave us a cooling wet tower and a welcome drink! XD The camp facilitators were introduced to us and we were then briefed on the activities for the day. As we were being ‘categorized’ as 1A, we’d be one of the 2 groups that would spend our night in the jungle. We had to pack a lot of things into our backpacks, including essential items like water and hammock. Shortly after that, we went to have our lunch which was not too bad, before taking another motorized sampan to the jungle. The earlier part of the jungle was relatively easy to hike, as we only have to walk on a flat land for 2-3 hours? The exotic part came later in the hike. We had to climb up a relatively steep slope and step onto very slippery rocks at the river bank to proceed to our campsite for our stay. The journey wasn’t that smooth and a few of my group mates fell… But I’m really certain that we were all very elated as we were nearing our campsite! =D The facilitators taught us how to tie our own hammock and a shelter-like cloth (which I forgot what it’s called) onto a tree. I always prefer to have girls in my group as they’re all very good cooks! I seriously don’t know how they managed to estimate the amount of water needed for such a relatively huge amount of rice and corn. And of course, we’d to really thank the helpers for helping us to start fire for cooking. It really true that everything would be tasty to you if you’re very hungry. I used to hate the can of tomato sardines, but when I ate some of it again, it just tasted heavenly lol! Since I didn’t contribute anything to cooking, I chose to wash the dishes and clean them~ (Must have team spirit! XD) So we turned in pretty early that night as we’ve got nothing else to do, especially in such a dark jungle without any lights. Since all of us were pretty much awake when we’re lying at our hammock, we’re communicating to each other by shouting across the forest! It was very fun as we understand each of us better after chatting haha! And that marks the end for Day 1~

    Day 2
After all, I was sleeping in an unfamiliar environment then, thus, I didn’t sleep that well on the previous night. We were all looking forward to that morning because we would be going back to our paradise! Breakfast was instant noodles with some hotdogs and mushrooms. And again, it was all done by the girls, therefore, I went to wash the dishes together with Keen Hoe and Felicia. Upon having all our stuffs packed, it’s time for us to set out! XD The weather was really very humid, and I was already perspiring before I started my day LOL. Walking back to the waterfall was somewhat faster than we’re walking in on the previous day, perhaps because we’ve more energy and expected a longer distance. Nevertheless, walking down the slope wasn’t an easy task at all. We’ve to support and look out for one another constantly in case anything happens. Everything went on smoothly fortunately but the walk back to the endpoint of the forest was a little too boring I guess? Well, we can only interact with one another at the back of the line. It didn’t took that long for us to reach Telunas beach, and this time round, there’re still cooling wet towers! XD The feeling of wiping your face with the wet tower was amazingly awesome! We did the jetty jump next after grabbing a life jacket each! The normal height of the jetty jump wasn’t that high and jumping in was really cooling and fun! I think I jumped for like 4 times from the normal height? Ramen and I then decided to challenge the higher one which was apparently 3-storey high. I didn’t wanted to go up at first but since this is my only chance for jetty jump, why don’t I give it a try haha! I stood there for close to 15 mins before I finally dared to jump down. What I can say is that my ass really hurts! =X I’d my most awesome bathe after that, one reason was that I could wash off the dirt from the jungle on my body! Another reason was that Darren was bathing beside my cubical, and since I brought my mobile phone into the bathroom, we decided to sing out loud while bathing. The first particular song that we sang was Boston. It was like ‘You don’t know me, you don’t even care…” then we bursts out our laughter real loud! =D It would be damn embarrassing if someone is waiting outside the bathroom! XD We then had our second lunch, before proceeding to our next activity- Raft Building. We took quite some time to build the raft, as we’d to plan everything and consider its buoyancy. I wasn’t feeling good at that time as all I could do is nothing, because I didn’t know how to tie knots. All I could do was manual labour~ =X Ramen and Darren were the kayakers and they were supposed to pull the raft with everyone on, and at the same time, people sitting on the raft were given oars to paddle. That wasn’t an easy task as everyone was giving different instructions, so it was a little bit puzzling. Nevertheless, we still managed to pull through with the help of Mike! Kudos to Mike! =D We also caught the first sunset that we saw in Telunas! It was damn nice! XD Dinner was quite long for that day as we were clueless for the night activities that we’d be having. We proceeded to the beach for some ‘kampong activities’. Some games were pretty fun, like the one that people have to squat and aim the pencil into the bottle. But I think that the best throughout the whole night is none other than shooting stars! XD We were all throwing honey stars onto Ramen’s face that was coated with liquid chocolate! =D It was damn funny, and his face managed to stick 125 pieces of honey stars! Since the other 2 groups were away to the jungle, the bunks were very quiet. We then played different songs to somewhat keep the whole group awake but I guessed that was some unwanted noises lol..

    Day 3
We planned to watch sunrise together as a group on the previous night, but only a few of us were there at the jetty, staring into the sky. Well, I would say that the morning activities a little too boring. Let’s make the amazing race as the highlight of the Day instead! After having our first lunch as a whole of Camp A, we were briefed on the amazing race round the beach. The first station was to build a raft again.. And this time round, we’ll have to carry two people who’ll be sitting on the raft from a flag to another. Though we were the last group to complete the first task, we managed to catch up in the second station! (Thanks to Xinyi’s hawk eye) We were being mislead at first as we didn’t know which direction we would have to head if the flag was at the West side of the beach. But thanks to the sunset on the previous day, we managed to find our way there. The third station was one of the main ‘pillars’ of the race itself. Xinyi and Yahui had to sit on the kayak, and the remaining members have to really push them from the shore of the bay all the way to the red floater which was near the jetty. It seemed that it’s a little far but we managed to complete it as a team! =D The fourth and fifth and sixth station were like ‘mini games’. We had to fix a puzzle, match flags to countries and translate from native Indonesia language? to English. We completed those stations pretty fast and meanwhile, we hydrated ourselves with some freshwater. The seventh station was one that really needs total concentration as we had to count the total amount of wooden poles on the right of the walkway. All of us had different answers, except for Alexis and Ramen who got 2076. I counted 2148 poles with an error of plus minus 100 haha? The eighth station required teamwork as everyone had to take part in the activity. We had to hit a volleyball for 10 times continuously, and we managed to get it after a couple of tries! =D The ninth station was a rather frustrating one. We had to climb up to the hilltop and complete 20 over sets of tasks. Muina suggested to finish reading all the instructions at first, but we didn’t want it as we thought that it would be too time consuming. Therefore, we did and tried on different tasks before we read the last set of instruction. We could have gone down to the beach if we had listen to Muina at first. The instruction was pure simple, we only had to write out the names of the team members and we could go. I reckoned many of us were really frustrated upon seeing this. Nonetheless, we went back down to the beach to play some ‘musical instruments’ in the tenth station. We were tasked to create a song by blowing the mouth of different bottles after filling it up with water with different levels. I was the middle tone if I’m not wrong, and they kept laughing at me just because I was funny when I was blowing. Well, frankly speaking, I was just trying to entertain the group haha! XD The eleventh station was another ‘mini-game’, nothing much to say. The main highlight of the race was the twelfth station, which was also the last one. We had to hold a hollow pillar which was around 1.8m-1.9m vertically in the beach. 2 table tennis balls were placed into the pillar and the purpose of the game is to scoop up the table tennis balls from the top of the pillar after filling water to the brim. That wasn’t easy as there were many holes round the pillar. Therefore, each of us has to push our fingers firmly onto the holes to prevent the water from flowing out. It didn’t work at first, so we tried again and switched our ‘manpower’. I went down to the bottom of the pillar and really push my fingers real hard against the pillar, with my eyes closed as the seawater was irritating my eyes! =( But we succeeded in the end after a few tries and we’re the first group to complete this station! We were so happy then and we decided to help the other groups with their pillars too! And it’s really good to make a good friend like Din in one of the groups who thanked us for helping! =D It feels really good to help people with their stuffs haha! The dinner was a real epic one, as we were given pizzas with our own desirable toppings! I didn’t had that though as I was feeling pretty full. But the banana roll and passion fruit pudding that we had in one of the days were totally awesome!!! =P I think that was the most enjoyable dinner that we had as our group was so HIGH! We’re singing on the dining table like no one’s business! XD Following that, we’d a debrief and we’ve to gather in a big round circle to tell each other in a solemn tone that ‘Brother/Sister, this is a solemn occasion.’ Well, I guessed most of us were like laughing away after our turn haha! That’s because it’s just too funny! XD That night really ended very fast, which most of us didn’t want to! =( We shared our secondary school’s life and Darren taught us palm readings! It was so cool! And we played truth or dare afterwards which was also extremely funny!!! Especially for all the dares haha!

    Day 4
Saw a very nice sunrise when I came out from my bunk, and started to take snippets of photos before leaving such an awesome place! The ferry and sampan ride was like way shorter than the first day’s ride! Many funny happenings on the ferry too, like Xinyi and Dexter LOL. There were some funny stories from Felicia and Lydia too~ Well, all good things have to come to an end. I seriously feel that for this camp, all the TWT lessons were worth attending! XD And I guess I wouldn’t forget this awesome bunch of people who spend the most awesome 4 days of 2011 with me! If possible, I hope that the camp was made 10 days long! =P
